Studio information and policies
Piano lessons are held at my studio in West Ottawa, at your home (depending on my availability), and online/virtually. The lessons are private, one-on-one sessions which take place weekdays from September to June, with a more flexible schedule during July and August. All weekly lesson times are based upon student needs, but a minimum of a 30 minute weekly lesson is recommended for beginners.
Registration generally takes place in May for the following September – June term, however students & parents who are interested in lessons are asked to get in touch as soon as possible as spaces can be limited.
Lesson structure
As part of the lessons each week, students can present their pieces and ask questions, examine areas to focus on during the week, hear & choose new music to learn, play fun skill-building music games and exercises and develop their musical knowledge of theory & technique. Any required materials can be purchased for students by the teacher.
I also suggest students search through the constantly-updated studio Music Library to find music to learn, visit local and online music stores, and check out the Student Resources page.
Studio events
Throughout the year, there are several studio events, including piano studio club parties and the annual June piano recital for family & friends. Students are encouraged to also participate in local music festivals, examinations with the Royal Conservatory of Music and other performance opportunities at schools, places of worship, community events, and with other musicians whenever possible! Please see the Calendar and Student Resources for more information.
